ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Education (NA-SCE), Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali, while commenting on Friday’s decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has said that no Pakistani expected justice from the PCO courts and that now the matter would be decided by the student community in its January 22 march in Islamabad.
Talking to media from London, he said that, on the one hand, re-assessment of marks was termed legal while, on the other hand, the concerned authorities had been directed to frame rules for re-assessment.
Abid said that on January 22, thousands of people and students will demonstrate against the system of injustice being enforced in Pakistan. He regretted that while in the past, rules and clauses of the Constitution were changed for Musharraf, now the same was being done for the daughter of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
He said it was unfortunate that different government attorneys presented completely distorted facts before the court. He said he had challenged the present PCO-judiciary to tell one thing to the whole nation – whether the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) increased the marks of all the 201 candidates through re-assessment or only the marks of Farah Hameed Dogar were increased through re-assessment?
He said that in the government’s reply to the IHC, it was very clearly claimed on the behalf of FBISE that marks of all the 201 students, who had applied for re-checking, were increased through re-assessment of their answer sheets.
“The nation should know the fact that only Farah Dogar’s marks were jacked up through illegal process of re-assessment while the marks of all other 200 candidates were increased through legal and well-defined process of re-checking.”
The PCO-judges should tell why they were unable to take action against those who distorted the facts before the court, Abid asked.
Abid said that the January 22 march would send a clear message to the government that if this system did not change, nobody would be able to get justice.
