LAHORE: Punjab University teachers have strongly condemned the incidents of Islami Jammiat Tilaba’s hooliganism and vandalism on the campus premises and urged the chief minister to help PU admin establish peaceful academic atmosphere in the campus. A special meeting of Punjab University Dean Committee held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran here at New Campus on Wednesday. The committee strongly condemned the incident of firing and torture on students and guards by some IJT activists. The senior teachers expressed their anger and sentiment on the fact that that a few wicked activists of IJT with the help of some external elements and expelled students misbehave with teachers and torture students and security guards. A two-point resolution was also passed on the occasion in which chief minister Punjab was appealed to help university admin in curbing illegal activities of IJT in the varsity. The CM was also urged to give some time fro meeting to a delegation of PU senior teachers to discuss the issue. It was also said in the resolution that the university teachers were fully aware that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was day and night busy in resolving problems of the province; however, this issue was of much importance and demands his immediate attention. It was also noticed in the meeting that the incidents of illegal and rules violation activities by IJT in the campus were increased during the last one and half months and admissions for session 2009 were continue during this period.
