CSS Exam 2013 Subjects and Syllabus

The choice of subjects for CSS preparation plays an important role for your success. You should choose the subjects according to your skills and knowledge. Subjects those best suits you should be chosen in case of optional subjects. There are 6 compulsory subjects for CSS examination. The six compulsory subjects which comprise 100 marks each are namely Essay, English (Précis & Composition), Everyday Science, Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs, and Islamiyat. There is no choice of other subjects because these subjects are compulsory.

You have to select optional subjects of 600 marks in total. Optional courses can be selected from any group, ranging from A to I given below. Every optional course holds either 100 or 200 marks and the courses opted for from each group must not exceed a total of 200. The groups are diverse in their courses so that students from all educational backgrounds can apply and prepare for the examination.
