There are different types of pollutions in the environment which has harmful effects. Every type of pollution has its own causes and consequences.
The main types of pollution are Water Pollution, Air Pollution, Soil Pollution, Thermal Pollution, Radioactive Pollution, Noise Pollution and Light Pollution. All these pollution are collectively called as environmental pollution. Pollution today has become a grave problem which is destroying the purity of air, the seas and the land, threatens the survival of living things.
Causes and effects of pollution:
Pollution is the result of reckless science and violent technology. The massive use of pesticides and herbicides is poisoning the ecosystem of the earth. Industrial wastes and automotive emission represent a major and perhaps lasting hazard to life. People also pollute their surroundings in different ways for example they ruin the natural beauty of environment by spreading litter and garbage in the land and in water. The motor vehicles ad factories fill the air with poisonous gases.
Eradication of trees for different purposes also a cause of polluting the environment because greenery add oxygen to environment filters the air. Atmospheric pollution as a result of emission of carbon monoxide, Sulphur oxides and hydrocarbons has become a subject of growing concern and has led to increasing pressure for restrictions of burning of fossil fuels. It is estimated that currently more than 20 billion tons of carbon dioxide are being released in the atmosphere in this way every year.
The discharge of these air pollutants is infecting and destroying river, lakes and oceans. Air, water and soil are harmed by pollution, these things are necessary for the survival of living things. Trees make the oxygen and spread it in the air for us. Strict policies should be made for factories so that they are not allowed to discharge chemical wastes into the water. The factories should recycle their waste product in order to reduce pollution.
Those vehicles should not be allowed to move on the road that spread harmful smokes. Government should play their role to reduce pollution and make environment friendly policies. Scientists and engineers should also play their role to reduce pollution. Students can also play their role to eradicate pollution by taking part in different activities like plating more trees and clean their surroundings.
