LAHORE: At least 100 employees of Punjab Intermediate and Secondary Education Boards (PISEBs) have been arrested over observing strike and staging protest against government for last 14 days, Geo news reported.
The employees who were on strike were forbidden to enter offices but they vowed to continue demonstration till meeting of their demands.
It may be mentioned that the protest and strike were prompted over non-payment of grants to education boards from Punjab government.
Earlier on Monday, the Punjab government ordered to take action against the employees of education board who were on strike for last 13 days.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif ordered to nab the union office bearers and register cases against them.
Sources told media that addresses were collected for arrest and show-cause notices from board offices were issued against them.
According to the notices, stern action was to be taken against those who fail to reply to them within seven days.
On the other hand, the union office bearers said that they would contact the court rather than replying to such notices.
