Lahore: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) is likely to conduct a special examination in November to recruit 200 people on the posts of BS-17 section officers, a senior Establishment Division official said on Tuesday.
The official said that the examination was being held after 10 yeas, and the successful candidates could be trained under the Office Management Group (OMG) in the federal government.
According to government statistics, the OMG and the Military Land and Cantonment (MLC) were removed from the list of occupational groups of the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination in 1999. The 12 occupational groups in the 27th Common Training Programme (year 2000) were: District Management Group, Police Services of Pakistan, Customs, Foreign Office, Income Tax, Pakistan Audit and Accounts and Services, Pakistan Railways, Postal Group, Information Group, Commerce group, MLC and OMG. In March 2008 (37th Common), the federal government included the MLC in the CSS examination.
The Establishment Division official said that as the OMG was going to be operational after a decade, the posts would be filled by section officers and not by promoting officials in the Federal Secretariat. He said that 200 section officers would be posted directly in the Federal Secretariat to fill the vacuum of OMG officials, adding that the proposal has been sent to the prime minister for approval in this regard.
FPSC Secretary Bashir Ahmad Chohan said that the Establishment Division had proposed the move. “It will be premature to say anything before it is confirmed. We have not received any letter from the Establishment Division in this regard,” he said. He said that after getting the letter, the commission would lay down rules and regulation for the recruitment of section officers.
