PESHAWAR: The political administration in the troubled Bajaur Agency has decided to reopen all schools in the next few days after assurance by the tribal elders to cooperate with the government in resuming academic activity.
A grand jirga of the tribal elders asked the political administration to reopen educational institutions in the agency. They extended full cooperation to the administration.A press release of the Fata Secretariat Monday said quick action would be taken to ensure students did not waste more time, though security situation was still precarious.
Amid precarious situation, the Fata Secretariat is in the process of taking significant steps on fast-track basis to ensure that every educational institution in Bajaur is reopenedAt an award distribution ceremony for the top position holders of Bajaur Agency at Civil Colony Khar, Political Agent (PA) Zakir Hussain Afridi said attacks on educational institutions in Bajaur led to their closure and deprived thousands of students of education. He added that elimination of ignorance, illiteracy and unemployment was important for defeating terrorism. Speaking at the function, Assistant Political Agent Muhammad Iqbal Khattak said there was no dearth of talent in Fata but the youth talent needed polishing.
