Lahore-Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the security of educational institutions is a collective responsibility and joint strategy will be adopted with the consultation of the administration concerned and Private Schools Association in this regard.
He was talking to a representative delegation of Private Schools Association who called on the CM at the at the Chief Ministers Secretariat, here Wednesday.
Matters regarding security arrangements at educational institutions were discussed in the meeting. Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, the Inspector General of Police, the Home Secretary, the Secretary Higher Education and the Secretary Schools were also present.
Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that Pakistan was passing through a critical phase and facing grave challenges of terrorism and militancy.
He said that the whole nation was united against terrorism and the government was utilizing all available resources for the maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of citizens.
He issued directions to constitute a joint security commission comprising representatives of government and Private Schools Association to adopt a joint strategy with mutual consultation for security arrangements at educational institutions.
He said that Secretary Schools and the Secretary Higher Education would be bound to maintain a close contact with the representatives of Private Schools Association, providing them necessary information about security arrangements.
He said that private educational institutions would depute trained and qualified security guards of security agencies approved by the Punjab government. Refresher courses were, especially, conducted for the training of approved security agencies at Elite Training School, he added.
action against water theft: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed authorities concerned to ensure the supply of water to the farmers at the tail end of the canals at any cost, saying stern action will be taken against the elements involved in water theft.
He said no one would be allowed the exploitation of poor cultivators, issuing instructions for setting up a high level committee, headed by Provincial Minister for Irrigation, to formulate recommendations for taking effective action against those involved in water-theft. The committee will submit its recommendations within seven days.
He was addressing a high level meeting regarding the supply of water at the tail end of canals and checking of water-theft at Chief Ministers Secretariat, here Wednesday. Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmad, Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Members Provincial Assembly Col.(R) Ayub Gaadhi, Maj.(R) Abdul Rehman Rana, Muhammad Rafique, Asif Manzoor Mohal, the Additional Chief Secretary, the Secretary Irrigation, the Secretary Law as well as senior officers concerned were present.
He issued directions to constitute a special committee headed by Raja Riaz Ahmad and comprising Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Members Provincial Assembly and senior officers to submit recommendations for curbing the incidents of water-theft.
MPAs meet CM: The Punjab Assembly members belonging to various districts called on Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Ministers Secretariat and apprised him of development activities in their respective areas.
Talking to the MPAs, the chief minister said that all-out resources were being spent on the welfare of the common man and special attention was being paid to the development of education, health, agriculture and other sectors. He said a comprehensive planning had been made for the early completion of development projects, worth billions of rupees, being executed in the province and third party audit system was being strictly implemented for transparent utilisation of funds.
He asked the MPAs to ensure timely completion of development schemes and maintain a close contact with the people of their respective areas for the solution to their problems.
Those who met the CM included Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti, Bilal Asghar Warraich, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Buzdaar and Mian Moin Wattoo.
