ISLAMABAD: A three-day workshop on Conservation/Restoration of Art Works started on Monday at the National Art Gallery (NAG). Jointly organised by the Ministry for Culture and the Embassy of Germany, Islamabad, the workshop is being conducted by a German expert,
Friedrich Zink. The first session of the workshop will continue till December 23 with prime focus on theoretical work while the second session of the practical work will be held from January 4 to 15.
The first part of the course highlights `preserving the past’, `cultural and historical heritage’, ‘Museum cosmos’, `coming to terms with the terms’,
`role and function of museum, site, monument’, `collection care’, `collection safety’ and ‘field conservation’. Around 50 participants attended the workshop, which is designed for museum and gallery professionals and those interested in safeguarding cultural heritage. According to the officials of PNCA, the workshop aims to provide the participants with an insight into cultural heritage and resource management in its widest sense.
